The talented district of the city

In an area rich in historic significance and creativity, and already served by multiple independent amenities, bars and restaurants, the two new office buildings, Globe Point and One Globe Square will become iconic.

Temple is a new district to live, work, eat and play in.

Leeds began life as a small market town, which gradually became an important centre for the manufacture and marketing of wool and flax, weaving, tailoring and commerce. This heritage includes The White Cloth Hall in Kirkgate, which opened in 1711 as the first covered market for the sale of undyed cloth by merchants from the surrounding areas. To the south of the city centre, the area around the Hol-beck, Globe Road and Water Lane, housed various mills and ancillary textile businesses, including imposing Marshall’s Mill. Grade I listed Temple Works sits at the heart of this area.

The intention is that Temple will balance sustainable social, environmental and economic needs as part of our placemaking ethos. All the buildings at Temple have been designed to feature the latest technology and materials to achieve highly efficient energy ratings.

The Forging Futures Campus is a pioneering new skills centre that was launched in 2017 at Kirkstall Forge. The Campus provides trade and professional apprenticeships, vocational training courses, work experience and work and training opportunities for social enterprise The Skill Mill.
